Faux Cleaners

Pinterest posted several homemade items that I just had to test.  Well, here are the results.

The first......

Homemade Febreeze

1/8 Cup of your favorite fabric softner  (I happen to love the scent of Downy Original)
2 Tbls. baking soda
Water

Directions.  In a spray bottle, combine the fabric softner and baking soda, then fill the rest of the container with water...shake and spray.

I have to say.  I like this very much!!!  It costs pennies compared to buying the real thing and it made my living room smell laundry fresh!!

The second....

Homemade Spot Remover

Peroxide
Dawn Dish Detergent, blue (I don't know if the color makes a difference)

Directions.  The ratio is two peroxide to one detergent.  I made a small bottle and used 1/8 cup to measure.  Here's what I tried it on.  An old coffee stain next to my vanity, a stain of crumbled blush, which I initially made worse in my cleaning efforts, and a nasty fresh hairball gifted to me by my Maine Coon cat, Zoe (which prompted me to try this concoction in the first place).  All three were on a light carpet.

I was extremely happy with the results!  The homemade spot remover did a wonderful job picking up all three stains!  I was especially impressed at how effective it was at getting up the makeup (orangey blush) out of my carpet because it was in a spot that couldn't easy be hidden by my waste basket, like the coffee stain was.

The third...

Dryer sheet

The reason I say sheet is, you only use one hand towel and reuse, and reuse, and reuse.  All you have to do is place your hand towel in a bowl, pour your favorite fabric softener over it, letting the towel absorb as much of the softner as possible.  Ring it out and dry.  Then throw it in with each dryer load.   Love it!!
