There is nothing like waking up, feeling your way to the coffee maker, pouring yourself your first cup of a.m joe and settling in on a favorite comfy-chair to enjoy it. The feel of the warm cup in your hand and the steaming aroma is the first jolt, before you even put your lips to the cup. Alas, the first sip. It makes you feel like you're wrapped in a warm blanket. It kick starts your day. It enhances focus. It helps you stay 'regular'.
The problem with that nice hot cup o'joe is that its not that great for you, especially if you drink it excessively. It can lead to cardiovascular problems; increased and/or irregular heart rate, increased blood pressure. It can lead to higher cholesterol, insomnia, dehydration. Caffeine is acidic, can cause acid reflux, which over time, can cause esophagus damage. It can even inhibit weight loss.
Now, why am I sharing this info on a beloved beverage of mine? Because I was experiencing some of the detrimental effects of it, and I was not even a heavy coffee drinker.
I tried changing over to a nice cup of tea in the morning, but, sorry, a cup of tea just didn't have the same 'feel' and wasn't as satisfying as a cup of coffee.

I accidentally found this delicious product that tastes like coffee, smells like coffee, feels like coffee, satisfies like coffee, but it's not coffee. This all-natural caffeine-free coffee-substitute is called Teeccino. They have a large variety of selections, my favorite being the original herbal or java herbal, all made from natural ingredients like carob, barley, chicory root, dates and figs, almonds along with other natural flavors. Their assortment of coffee flavors is pretty decent. You can even order a sample at $2.99, with each sample making three servings. An 11 oz bag of Teeccino is comparable to that of a bag of coffee; anywhere from $7.50 to $9.99. However for a 10-cup percolator setup, I only use three coffee-spoons of Teechino, and the coffee flavor is great. Out of curiosity, I even re-filled the water level on the percolator, using the same three-spoons and the flavor still came out great! I've also made Teeccino in my Keurig using the small reusable coffee filter, and yes, used the same serving three times with a great flavor outcome each time.
Bottom line folks... this is a great coffee alternative, especially if your have been directed by your doctor to eliminate coffee and/or caffeine from your diet. It not only saves you money but it gives you all of the comforts and benefits you like with a regular cup of joe; the kickstart for your day, focus, keeping 'regular', etc. The great thing about Teeccino is that with all of those benefits you walk away with a healthier, non-acidic body.
