Soap Scum Buster

I'm in the process of renovating my upstairs bathroom.  It has taken me some time to get started simply because I couldn't get moving on it until I knew what it was I wanted.  The choice has been made to keep our existing shower/tub ensemble and now that I've decided and checked all the supporting beams and existing plumbing I can move forward.  Keeping this shower was a tough decision.  I am renovating this myself, with my hubby's muscle when needed.

I wanted to really spiff up the existing shower and have begun by using the simple homemade soap scum buster that I've seen all over the Internet.  Making this, I wasn't sure it would be enough because in the past I've gone through a whole bottle of Kaboom and a lot of elbow grease to get rid of our hard water deposits.  I wanted to share with you that this simple concoction worked wonders!!

Soap Scum Buster

1 cup of white distilled vinegar (heated about 2 minutes in the microwave)
1 cup of BLUE Dawn dish soap

That's it!  Mix it up, put it in a spray bottle, spray it on and let it do most of the work for you.  The thickness of the dish soap helps the mixture stick to the walls..and in doing so can do it's job more thoroughly vs. a liquidy spray that just drips down your wall, requiring more than one application.  I sprayed once, left it on for a few hours (I had errands) came back and used a plastic scrubber to simply get all the dried soap mixture off..along with the deposits.  One application was all that was needed.  I am a fan and will happily bypass all the expensive cleaners from now on.

*Note....once I finish with my renovation, I will post photos
