I love to cook with onions, there are so many kinds and flavors. Take the scallion for example. Their mild flavor can be used in soups, salads, dips, you name it.Here's a scallion tip: When you buy a bunch, instead of throwing away the root, cut about an inch above the bulb and place it in a small vase of water, roots down. Not long after, new scallion growth will emerge. Make sure to keep water at the base at all times. I have a bunch sitting in a bowl in the window. I cut off what I need when I need it and always have fresh scallions on the ready!!
