Homemade Deodorant Followup

If you have read an earlier post, my daughter and I made a healthy homemade deodorant.  I posted a comment on my experience, but because it doesn't show up automatically, I figured I'd create a follow up post.

1st Use

I made my deodorant to be more creamy and did not continue to add starch to thicken it up too much.
For my first use, I applied it in the a.m. before the gym and headed out. Here's my critique:

The coconut/lavender scent lasted throughout the day and I loved it. No reapplying necessary. I did find, however, that the baking soda slightly irritated me by the end of the day. My husband on the other hand had no irritation and was fresh smelling from sun up to sun down. I believe it is because I shave and he doesn't. If you are a female and decide to give this recipe a try, definitely minimize the amount of baking soda by at least one or two tablespoons. As for the batch I made, I will scoop it back into a bowl and add more coconut oil to balance the ratio a little. I'll let you know if that does the trick.

After I Balanced The Ingredients:

As I said, I scooped all of the homemade deodorant back into a bowl and simply added 1/4 cup more coconut oil to balance out the baking soda.  When I applied, I did not use as much as I did the day before.   By the end of the day I was still fresh smelling, had no white clumps and NO abrasiveness.
Overall, I really like the newly balanced deodorant and will continue to use it while smelling fresh, staying healthy and saving money!!

**I will update the recipe and repost.  If you have already made it, however, and you had the initial results that I did, please adjust your recipe with additional coconut oil.
