As I watch the original bathroom in my home deteriorate, I get an excited, yet scared feeling that I'm at the beginning of a 'MUST DO REAL SOON' big project! My nagging question is, do I have what it takes to pull out the tub or should I work around it...doctor it up a bit? If I keep the tub, I can get moving with the project immediately. If I get rid of the tub it will take a bigger budget and more decisions on what to choose. Decisions, decisions. I won't move forward until I can say with certainty that I know what I want, but... I'd better decide soon!

In the meantime, what I have finished (awhile ago) was the backsplash in my kitchen.
The backsplash is a copper colored glass mini tile. I used a tile from Home Depot which came in 12x12 sheets. The mini tile worked well for this wall because there are a few uneven areas, so the tile was able to mold to those contours a little easier than a larger tile. To initially adhere the tiles to the wall, I used a made-for-tile self-stick adhesive. Because the tiles are glass and not ceramic, I had to use a non-abrasive grout
(color: rust). The hardest part was mixing the grout. I have since purchased a handy mixing device for future projects. Make sure to measure out your space, making sure you have a straight line to align the first string of tiles to. Also, I initually purchased one box of tiles to tack up on the wall to see if it was something I liked. When I went back to Home Depot the next day to get a second box of tile, the coloring was slightly different, so check that out before you begin. The whole project came in at around $150.00 if my memory serves.
This was a pretty easy project!
Note: It took me about six months to find the tiles that would work for me. Decisions, decisions!!!
and.....the beige, plastic outlet covers were painted by yours truly in a blended copper color to match the tiles.
*Major use of the word 'tile' in this post....because I was tiling, many tiles, using glass tile and glass tile grout, and tile adhesive...
